It all started with a realization…
The New York Independent Book Festival was born from a simple yet powerful reality: independent authors need a platform to showcase their work and connect with readers.
After organizing an event for an author, Loida Lewis, and himself, founder Aki Ashe recognized a common challenge faced by indie authors—we’re often on our own when it comes to promotion. Inspired by the thriving arts scene in New York, he set out to create a literary event that would celebrate independent authors and their contributions to storytelling.
Our mission is to provide a venue for local authors, graphic novelists, publishers, book artists to market their work, and to foster an interest in reading, writing, and literature.
Board of Supporters compose of businessman and businesswomen helping people live to their fullest potential. Literacy is so important to our development.
Aki Ashe is an author, publisher, and philanthropist. Mr. Ashe enjoys providing a platform for space for fellow writers, authors, publishers, and creatives to share their works with the world. HIs mission is to continue to inspire and serve others to help them grow to their full potential.
